Nesting Treats from Alisa

September 5, 2011 | 0 Comments
This week the very stylish and lovely Alisa Ratner shares with us her favorite picks for beautifying our environment. I almost always covet what Alisa is wearing. She truly has a knack for finding unique and interesting items, whether it be a handmade linen dress from a little shop in Brooklyn, or a vintage Jerome Dreyfus bag in striped canvas. She is remodeling a house right now that is going to be a modern woodsy oasis. Hopefully we can share that when it’s done.

I often find the need to escape by means of the olfactory receptors and these 3 products help me to do this most effectively!

In addition to her exquisite jewelry, Liseanne Frankfurt’s beeswax candles are exceptional. I stopped burning anything other than beeswax candles because burning them produces negative ions that act as an air purifier. There are a handful of different fragrances – Palmarosa Geranium, Bergamot, Frankincense, and Lavender Geranium, among others. The aromas are wonderful when layered together, and the candles last forever. What’s more, they are presented in a beautiful burlap bag. $42 each at LFrank, 1116 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Venice 310.398.2547.

For an instant boost, I turn to nah-la’s Alchemy Healing Aromatherapy Mist for body, room and bed linens. It’s a fresh and mysterious blend of rose, orange, ginger, and more, and every time I use it, people say, “you smell so good”. $28 at Strange Invisible Perfumes, 1138 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Venice 310.314.1508.

For the closets and drawers, hang or place these exotic beeswax tablets by Officina Profumo-di Santa Maria Novella. They are molded and decorated by hand in Florence, Italy by a Pharmacy – located in a monastery – founded in 1381. They give off the strong, sweet fragrance of flowers and essential oils.

$30 per box at Turpan, 225 26th Street,

Santa Monica 310.451.9500.
