Canning with LA in Bloom . . . .

September 23, 2011 | 1 Comment
Sometimes the fruit during the summer season is so incredibly delicious that I contemplate canning, and then intimidation sets in and the canning gets canned. Heather Taylor who we discovered some time ago as an art curator also has an amazing blog called La in Bloom. This webisode from her blog demystifies canning and inspires me to start buying some mason jars.

Here is a mini interview with the LA Blossom:

1) What are your favorite local restaurants?  Son of a Gun for linguine with clams, Salt’s Cure for oatmeal pancakes and Pizzeria Mozza for pizza and prosecco at the bar.

2) What are your favorite local boutiques or stores? Vivier and Bentley in Silver lake for accessories from some of my favorite LA-based designers including handbags by Clare Vivier, jewelry by Kathryn Bentley and shoes by Beatrice Valenzuela. For clothing and shoes, I love Barney’s in Beverly Hills. And for vintage dresses I go to The Way We Wore.

3) How long have you been a conscious and healthy foodie?Having grown up in Malibu, I feel like health food is in my blood. I recently completed a 3-day juice cleanse from Pressed Juicery and was impressed by how alert and energized it made me feel. That being said, I like to live life to the fullest and sometimes that means eating an Apple Pan hamburger with fries and not looking back.

4) What is your favorite beverage? Pellegrino with lemon, please. Or a great margarita.

5) What book is on your night stand? I get motivated by reading about successful and inspiring women so right now I’m reading An Extravagant Hunger: The Passionate Year of MFK Fisher by Anne Zimmerman. It’s wonderful.

6) Do you have a nick name?
I have been called by my initials, HBT, since I was a teenager. Everyone from my husband to my closest friends to my blog reader who I’ve never met call me HBT and I’ve come to really associate with it.
