Finally a Place For Us . . . . The Veggie Grill

May 17, 2011 | 1 Comment

As a child growing up in Iran I once saw my favorite pet lamb being cooked in a pot in the kitchen. Needless to say I was converted to vegetarianism at the age of seven.  I decided to stick to this, and for over  a decade to the horror of my carnivorous parents I ate nothing but fruits and vegetables. Now I’ve learned about the healthy balance of having protein and on occasion will eat some sort of animal protein mostly for medicinal purposes. If only there was a Veggie Grill when I was a starving, vegetarian, adolescent! The good news is that now there is a place for my picky girls. My  youngest at five has decided to forgo all items resembling animals of any form, and I have a tough time arguing with her considering I was the same. The Veggie Grill is a god send especially for those nights when I am too exhausted to come up with a creatively nutritious and delicious meal. You know those evenings when you keep opening up the fridge and pantry hoping you will be inspired to whip some thing up that is gluten free, rainbow colored, organic, wholesome, savory and most importantly won’t be balked at by the midget critics seated on the counter!

The Veggie Grill is truly so delicious! Finally a casual, quick, vegetarian chain haven.  They even have a Kale salad that may surpass mine in crunchy flavor. The best thing is that it is all fresh. The sweet potato fries are a huge hit as is the quinoa mac and cheese for kids. All the traditional meat dishes are made from vegetable protein and tempeh.

There are many locations and more are popping up. The one we chowed down at is in Santa Monica at 2025 Wilshire blvd.  www.veggiegrill.com
