Take me to the river . . .

August 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

One of the highlights of my Tuscan trip was a day trip to an amazingly pristine river.  My dear friend and generous host has been going to Tuscany since he was a young child, so he knows all the secret jewel spots around Siena. One afternoon he took us all on a several mile hike through the forests of Tuscany to a gorgeous river bank. There the children dove into deep pools and played among the natural waterfalls. This was heaven for me. it reminded me so much of what Yosemite was like when I was a child. Unpolluted and majestic in it’s river beauty. Our host had us rub the special, volcanic river rocks together and rub the paste all over our skin. We really did look like a wild tribe that day! I think the way to this oasis is secret but if you happen to be in Tuscany one summer, ask a local to take you to the river by the town of Orgia.

Here is the teepee I mentioned earlier. There was a rainbow above it that day. Pure magic!
