Being on the holistic path as taught me that preventative care is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves. In Ayurvedic traditions, everything is about ways in which the body can detox. We have shared many breast-care strategies on The Local Rose Blog, and I’m so happy to share with you our latest by Rachelle Poitras, founder of Metonia. Metonia’s mission is to provide the best tools and most digestible information to empower you in your journey for wellness and breast health. Here, she gives us a recipe for a breast-mask and practical application of preventative care. Thank you Rachelle for your post and your work with Metonia!

Regardless of whether or not you’ve got breast imbalances, toxins are present in every woman’s breasts. It’s simply the nature of the world we live in. Toxins not only come the foods we consume, the water we drink and the products we apply to our skin, but they’re also passed along from our mothers. For instance, if your mother was a photographer and developed her own photos she was very likely exposed to high levels of chemicals which were then passed on to you.

This buildup of toxins can then start to negatively impact cells and promote mutations. One of the best things we can do is start to remove these toxins and heavy metals.

Breasts are like sponges and soak up chemicals and heavy metals found in deodorants, antiperspirants, shampoos, skin care, makeup, unfiltered water, inorganic foods and so on. Because of their highly absorbent nature it’s important to be mindful of the products we apply to our breasts and surrounding area.

To help increase detoxification doing a breast massage after your breast mask is a great way to help stimulate the breast lymphatic which is responsible for draining toxins from the breast tissue. When lymph becomes stagnant, toxins are retained and proper nutrition and oxygenation of the breasts is inhibited.

Mask Benefits

  • Detoxifies breast tissue. Helps to remove heavy metals, toxins, bacteria.
  • Nourishes breast tissue with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
  • Helps clear the breast lymph
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Incredibly healing for anyone suffering from breast imbalances such as cysts, pain, fibroadenomas, tumors, inflammation, mastitis, pain, swelling, tenderness, etc.

BREAST MASK

Ingredients

  • Castor Oil
  • Filtered or spring water
  • French Green Clay
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chlorella powder
  • Charcoal powder
  • Kelp powder
  • Frankincense essential oil ( 2 drops)

Feel free to use just some of the ingredients. These are all incredibly detoxifying ingredients and can be used using just a few at a time.

Directions

  • Depending on your chest size you’ll need to adjust measurements accordingly.
  • Let the ingredients speak to and guide you. Start with smaller amounts  (1/2 tsp + ). I recommend intuitively combining the ingredients in quantities that feel right for you and will completely cover your chest area.
  • Apply to breasts, chest area up to collarbone and underneath armpits.
  • Visualize the the mask binding to the toxins and eliminating them via the lymph.
  • Apply your favorite breast oil afterwards and follow with a breast massage to clear toxins and stagnant energy.

Listen to some binaural beats to heal and regenerate tissue or for a cellular detox.

INGREDIENT BENEFITS

  • Kelp is hydrating, cooling, has antioxidants and contains iodine which detoxifies heavy metals, helps balance hormones, shrinks growths, alters gene expression in the breasts and so much more.
  • Castor oil: clears and decongests the breast lymph. It’s also anti-inflammatory and can help reduce benign breast masses.
  • French Green Clay is rich in a wide array of minerals and has strong detoxifying properties. This swelling clay penetrates deeply into pores, drawing out impurities, and even puffiness caused by carrying excess water. Only use the clay once a week if doing the breast mask more than once a week.
  • Turmeric reduces inflammation,  supports healthy and radiant skin, is  a powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-microbial.
  • Chlorella is packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It’s also an important source of iodine which is incredibly important for healthy breast tissue. It’s also a great heavy metal remover and helps cleanse and detoxify.
  • Charcoal powder draws bacteria, toxins out. It also works well as a skin exfoliator.
  • Frankincense essential oil is incredibly healing and detoxifying  for breast tissue

DIRECT THE MEDICINE

  • When used internally fresh burdock root binds and removes heavy metals and chemicals. Juice some root and have it with some filtered or spring water and chlorella. When medicine is taken internally and applied externally, this tells the body where to focus the medicine.

INTENTION

“I now care and nourish myself with love and with joy. ”

Enjoy this beautiful and nurturing time with yourself.
