Bohemian Lounging = Kilim Pillows

This photo from the home of Commune designer Roman Alfonso really inspired me with it’s coziness, colors, and Bohemian vibe. I have seen a few of these kilim pillows about town. At the John Derian boutiques in New York City, they have incredibly big and gorgeous ones with price tags to match, so I decided to make my own.

I found old Persian or Turkish kilims in small sizes on various on line rug supply stores. They are very reasonable in price you just have to search for a while and figure out what size pillow you want. After the kilim arrived I took it to F & S Fabrics on Pico and asked one of the seamstresses there to back it with a cream or beige linen fabric. In a few days I had my own kilim pillows that evoked a Rumi -book-of-poems-strewn-around-a-candle-lit-den-feeling.
