Last Days of Autumn at Farmer’s Market

December 13, 2012 | 0 Comments

To bake my mom’s recipe for apple galette (recipe in next posting) I went in search of delicious apples at the Santa Monica Farmer’s market. EILEEN FISHER provided the skirt and cozy sweater which was perfect for a crisp autumn morn, and off Mel Blanchard and I went! Our first stop was at the pumpkin stand because tis’ still pumpkin pie season. They also are perfect vessels for floral arrangements hollowed out as my  lovely friend Jenni Kayne had at her dinner party. We also sought out pomegranates for a an incredible Persian stew of pomegranates and walnuts (recipe later this month). Along the way we discovered cheddar cauliflower (great roasted with olive oil, fennel seeds and sea salt), multi colored carrots, flowers for winter arrangements, and my favorite cranberry beans!
