Winter Time Remedies

Sharing my favorite ways to relax this holiday season

December 14, 2018 | 0 Comments

With the Holidays sometimes our nervous systems may get bombarded with more activity. I am really learning to respect my physical form and listen when I need to slow down. When we lived in rhythm with the seasons, and elements the Winter time was a time to go more inward and recollect our spirit.

Some of the things I do during this season to relax my nervous system is:

Celestial Nog

Celestial Nog

Tonics, such as the Celestial Nog

Serves 2

12 oz. Raw Sprouted Pumpkin Seed milk, warmed
1 c Coconut Cream
2 Tbs Sun Potion Tocos
3 Medjool dates (soaked, optional)
1 tsp Sun Potion Pine Pollen
1/2 tsp Sun Potion He Shou Wu
1/2 tsp Sun Potion Mucuna Pruriens
1/2 tsp Sun Potion Astragalus
1 Raw vanilla bean (option to substitute with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
1 tsp nutmeg
pinch of freshly ground cardamom
pinch of ground cinnamon
pinch of ground cloves
pinch of turmeric
pinch of sea salt
love

* please source organic or wild harvested ingredients whenever possible

Instructions

Begin by warming pumpkin seed milk in a saucepan (to preference, yet take care to not bring to a full boil to preserve living enzymes) then add the coconut cream and herb powders, finish with the vanilla and spices. Pulse for about a minute in a high speed blender and serve with love. Adding a final pinch of spice as a garnish just before serving always brings in a beautiful touch.

Sour Cherry Juice

Sour Cherry Juice
Cherry is juice is one of my favorite ingredients right now. The rich flavonoids help boots the immune system while the minerals in the juice activate melatonin in your body. Cherry juice before sleep can make you slumber deeper and with more efficiency. Sour cherry juice is full of anthocyanin which reduces inflammation in the body. In Iran, as a child sour cherry jam was a staple in breakfast meals. I use this organic brand every evening on a bowl of whole yogurt for extra calcium before bed.

Chaga Face Mask

Another way to calm the nervous system and ensure a stronger immune system is adding Chaga mushroom. If I don’t make a tea or tincture from Chaga.

I will make a face mask. This is a sure way that I will sit and relax for 15 to 20 minutes while the mask is activating
my skin.
Recipe
1/2 Avocado
1 Tbs Chaga steeped like a tea
2 Tbs Yogurt
1 tbs Raw honey

Mix all the ingredients and place on skin.
Benefits of Chaga on skin:
Balances Melanin in skin.
Feeds antioxidants through skin to your body.
Feeds Betulinic Acid to the body that comes from Birch trees
Is an adaptogen so helps balance stress in the body.
Exfoliates the skin as it adds free radicals to cleanse.
