Calling in Spring Time Bounty

Celebrating Nature and Her Giving Force

March 19, 2019 | 0 Comments

On Wednesday, March 20 it will be the spring equinox which coincides with the full moon in Libra 💗 this only happens 3 times in a century where the full moon is on this equinox. Spring equinox is all about new growth green shoots coming up through the fertile soil 🌿 in many cultures there is an acknowledgment to this shift of the season. As we honor the sacred, cyclical moments of nature, we begin to honor ourselves.

For myself, I’ve been attempting to be in the realms of being rather than doing. By being in this space, I’ve had moments of transcendence. Yesterday on a little walk I do at times, I saw a blossoming fruit tree and for some reason, I grasped how I would never see it like that, in that form again. It took my breath away and for a small moment I was just present and free . . .

I hope you all can reap in the rewards of this fertile time.

Springtime is always the perfect time to sew the seeds for prosperity, love, abundance, health and joy.  In the Persian culture, families create a Spring or New Year’s altar at home to celebrate nature and her giving force. This has roots to the age of Zoroastrianism which was the dominant religion in Persia before the Islamic religion came in. In the Zoroastrian tradition, all the elements are celebrated like fire, water, air, and the plant world.

For my Spring Equinox altar I added some sweet almond cookies to bring in sweetness in life, garlic to represent peace, apple for the ‘fruits of our labor’, the spice sumac for taste and passion, a glass of wine for health, a book of poetry for love, sweet syrup for the sap and and fluids in life, vinegar for relishing the good things in life, incense, flowers, crystals and photos of loved ones. In the Persian culture, the altars are laid out on a white table cloth to represent purity, but any surface can represent the world you want to bring in in the coming year.

Other ways I like to honor this auspicious moment in our planetary world, is by planting flowers or bulbs and envisioning the elements I want the earth to bring forth while gardening. This can be so meditative and healing. Another clearing and activating activity is clearing  crystals by soaking them in salt water then having them lay in the sun. As they are activating, it is a good time to write intentions down and use Goddess oracle cards to confirm ideas and goals.  Happy Spring to all you roses . .
